  • Batted a .421 as a freshman and .340 career to hold the spot for fourth on the all-time list at the University
  • University first NCAA All-American and team MVP from 1955-57
  • During his senior year: .388 batting average, 5 home runs, 34 runs batted in, .385 and two homers in a three-game playoff against Pepperdine
  • Eventually signed with the Cleveland Indians after 13 of the 16 teams in the major s at the time contacted him
  • Played in the Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds systems before returning to Portland to begin his teaching career
