  • In addition to baseball he was a four year letterman as a halfback and end in football, and a guard in basketball
  • Played shortstop and second base hitting four hundred or better each season, including a .410 mark in 1936
  • Captain in 1938, lead the team in extra base hits to defeat University of Oregon
  • Signed a professional contract in 1939 and was the all star shortstop for Vancouver B.C. in the Western International League and a member of the Pacific Coast League champion Seattle Rainiers
  • All star second-baseman for the Spokane Indians of the Western International League in 1940
  • Enlisted in the Army Air Corps and began a military career in 1940, earning a degree from the University of Denver Law School in 1950
